Whom we Fund

The Berk Foundation will consider supporting nonprofit organizations in a variety of fields. These include, but are not limited to: education, arts, social services, legal, elderly, the environment, people with special needs. Our maximum grant is $10,000 and most are for less. We are interested in new ideas and pilot programs but will review any worthy project.

Please note that we will not consider organizations with expense budgets of over $1,500,.

All recipients must be 501(c)(3) organizations. We will consider organizations with fiscal sponsors, although we prefer to fund organizations directly. As is the case with most foundations, we cannot fund individuals or galas.

Where we Fund

Because we often like to visit organizations, we will fund only those in the greater New York metropolitan area.

Other Information for Applicants

• Proposals may contain links to online websites, budgets or other sources of information on your organization.

• We will verify your tax-exempt status before approving your proposal or issuing a check.

• Longer is not better. We appreciate your being concise.

• Review meetings will be held in May and June and announcements shortly thereafter

We can only fund an organization one time. Please do not apply again if you have received a grant.

We regret that we cannot have individual conversations prior to receiving your proposal — there are simply not enough of us!
